  Dr. Lee is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Seattle Children’s Hospital at the University of Washington. Dr. Lee earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Managerial Studies at Rice University in Houston, then his MD at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed a residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, and served as Chief Resident at this institution. Dr. Lee is dual fellowship trained in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania, and obtained a master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology. During his time in Philadelphia, he was actively collaborating with the Food Science Department at Penn State University, examining unique opportunities to exam the role of diet in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD).

  Dr. Lee presently serves as the Medical Director of Clinical Nutrition at Seattle Children’s Hospital and is also the Director of the Celiac Disease Program. His research focuses on the role of diet in inflammatory bowel disease pathogenesis and dietary intervention as therapy for active disease. Dr. Lee’s research has evaluated the role of enteral nutritional therapy and whole food exclusion diets on clinical outcomes and the intestinal microbiome in IBD. Dr. Lee is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (CCF), American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN).

  Dr. Lee is an organizer for a multidisciplinary symposium on a “Food Systems Approach to Guy Health” with the Department of Food Science at Penn State University. He is a current scholar in the Clinical Research Scholar’s Program at Seattle Children’s Hospital with interest in dietary therapy for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and studies the role of dietary exposures in IBD pathogenesis. The research program that Dr. Lee is developing incorporates a multidisciplinary approach, including clinical gastroenterology, clinical nutrition, food science, plants science, and nutrition epidemiology.

  Family Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist

  A board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist. She earned her undergraduate degree at Oregon State University and Master of Science in Nursing at the University of San Francisco. After practicing medicine in California and Oregon for the past 18 years, Erica moved back to her home state of Alaska. For 15 years, she worked in gastroenterology at The Oregon Clinic in Portland, Oregon. Erica’s practice includes general GI, specializes in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), and is a preferred provider with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (CCF). Erica is faculty with the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA) and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), and is a member of several organizations, including the American Nurses Association.

  Recently, Erica became the care coordinator for the RADIUS program in the Northwest, a program dedicated to partnering with local Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) providing specialty IBD care to rural areas. Erica is a national speaker on IBD and is dedicated to educating patients and healthcare providers about IBD while raising disease awareness.

  Ghassan Wahbeh, MD, is the Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center at Seattle Children’s Hospital. He is a Professor of Pediatrics and Gastroenterology at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Director of Clinical Gastroenterology Operations. Dr. Wahbeh’s clinical focus is in advanced care for children, adolescents, and young adults with IBD, including advanced therapeutics and perioperative IBD management. He leads the Intestinal Ultrasound (IUS) Program at Seattle Children’s.

  Dr. Wahbeh’s research interests include novel therapeutics for pediatric IBD, advanced disease monitoring towards mucosal healing, clinical standard work in managing severe ulcerative colitis and complicated Crohn’s disease including fistulizing and stricturing phenotypes, and navigating IBD surgical options. He is actively involved in translational IBD research at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

  Dr. Wahbeh is actively involved as teaching faculty in medical student education, resident training and fellow physician specialty, and advanced IBD specialty training.

  He is the honored recipient of the Outstanding Teaching Faculty Award, as well as the Family Choice Award, and the Northwest Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation service award. Dr. Wahbeh enjoys playing soccer, skiing, and paddle-boarding with his wife and kids.

  Dr. Jason Harper is the Director of the Harborview Medical Center Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) program, and is a UW clinical assistant professor. He earned his M.D. from Columbia University, and did his internal medicine and gastroenterology training at the University of Washington. He is a member of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (CCF), and is presently on the regional Medical Advisory Committee.

  Dr. Harper’s clinical interests include inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). His research interests include clinical outcomes in IBD.

  Jeffrey Jacobs, MD, is a gastroenterologist and specializes in the care of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD).

  Dr. Jacobs believes in a patient-centered and team based approach to medical care, while using the most up-to-date research to get the best outcome for his patients. He realizes that each patient is different, and a tailored approach is critical to the successful care of his patients.

  Dr. Jacobs’ primary clinical interest is in the care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

  Dr. Jacobs enjoys playing with his dog at the park, trying out new cooking and baking recipes with his wife, traveling, reading books about history, and watching football (Go Hawks!).

  Kendra’s passion is to improve the lives of individuals with gastrointestinal diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Her dissertation examined the relationship between social support and self-management behaviors of medication adherence and diet modification finding that informational social support was associated with increased medication adherence. Kendra plans to expand her program of research to develop interventions aimed at improving self-management of individuals living with IBD.

  Kindra is a board-certified nurse practitioner with a clinical focus on Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Willamette University and completed her bachelor’s in nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Washington, School of Nursing. Kindra works as a Nurse Practitioner at the University of Washington, Digestive Health Center, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic, caring for patients with IBD. She also works as an investigator on the University of Washington, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Research Program, assisting with clinical trials and investigator initiated studies.

  Dr. Barahimi is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Washington with expertise in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). She earned her bachelor’s degree and MD at the University of Washington. She went on to complete her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Washington.

  In her clinical practice, Dr. Barahimi exclusively cares for patients with IBD. She is the principal investigator of IBD QORUS, a national quality improvement project that aims to improve the quality of care for patients with inflammatory bowel disease. She is also involved in clinical trials for new investigational therapies for inflammatory bowel disease. She is a member of the Crohn’s Colitis Foundation (CCF), American Gastroenterology Association (AGA), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).

  Dr. Scott D. Lee is an Associate Professor of Medicine with expertise in inflammatory bowel diseases. Dr. Lee earned his bachelor’s degree at Pomona College and his M.D. at Jefferson Medical College. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Colorado in Denver. After residency, Dr. Lee completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Washington. After completing his fellowship, he attended the University of Chicago and Cedar-Sinai in Los Angeles as a visiting physician to gain additional training in IBD. Since finishing his fellowship, he has been an attending gastroenterology physician at the University of Washington Medical Center. Currently, his clinical practice is at the Digestive Disease Center at the University of Washington and is dedicated exclusively to providing care to patients with the diagnosis of IBD. His research is focused on inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) including – new therapies for IBD, improving outcomes in the treatment and long-term management of IBD, evaluation of non-invasive biomarkers to assess disease activity in IBD patients, and the effects of the microbiome on IBD. He has participated in more than 100 clinical trials in IBD and continues to have an active clinical research program. He is a member of the Crohn’s Colitis Foundation of America (CCF), American Gastroenterology Association (AGA), American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He is a past chair of Northwest CCF Chapter Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) and continues as a current member of the CMAC.
